CHIPPEWA FALLS Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Using the power of song to help a community food pantry was the goal of a concert yesterday at the Chippewa Falls First Presbyterian Church. The group ‘Songa’ performed original music and covers for freewill donations.

The money raised is going to support the church’s food pantry which serves around 350 people each month. One volunteer with the church says the ultimate goal of the event is to raise money and awareness about the food pantry. So they can continue providing food to those who need it.

“It’s a necessary thing in our community. We serve our community; our church believes in our mission to feed the hungry. And so that’s how it all came together.”

In addition to the concert, the church also held a pulled pork sandwich dinner to continue to raise money for the food pantry.
