LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Nearly one in every 320 people in Wisconsin have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
That’s according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services after reporting over 16-hundred new cases on Sunday out of the nearly seven-thousand people tested in the last 24 hours. That means almost one out of every four people tested positive.
The total number of cases in the state since the pandemic began sits at nearly 522 thousand. Of those cases, DHS says 94 percent are considered recovered and nearly 32-thousand cases are still active in the state. One additional person in the state has died from COVID-19, putting the death toll at nearly 55-hundred.
Taking a look around the area, Eau Claire County adds 47 new cases for a total of over 10-thousand-100 cases of COVID-19 in the county.
Chippewa County tacks on 29 cases pushing its total past 65-hundred.
Dunn County reports 21 new cases for a total of nearly 39-hundred in the county.
And La Crosse county tallies 20 new cases, with the total number of cases in the county at just over 11-thousand.
