EAU CLAIRE/LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – There have been five COVID-19 related deaths in one week in Chippewa County. In a media briefing this morning, Health Director Angela Weideman says there are now six total deaths in the county.
She says even though the county has been seeing an increase of COVID-19 cases, they are not anticipating putting a local health order into effect.
Weideman said, “We are asking people to follow the state orders that are in place and also the recommendations made by the health department, we do not anticipate putting out local orders in addition we are really asking people to follow the recommendation that are being put out by the health department.”
Chippewa County saw an increase of 247 new COVID-19 cases since last Wednesday, bringing the total number of positive cases in the county to 1 thousand 130.
There are currently 367 active cases in the county and 15 hospitalizations.
Since September 1, 93 teachers and students have tested positive for COVID-19.
Eau Claire County adds a new death tied to COVID-19, bringing the total to 12. City-County Health Officials say the latest death was a person over 65 and with underlying conditions.
New positive tests went up today by 47.
La Crosse County tacks on 39 new cases, and Dunn County increases by 16, now at 900 cases of COVID-19.
