LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The start of another work week brings another record number of COVID-19 cases in Eau Claire County.
284 more positive tests for the virus push the overall total in Eau Claire County to more than six thousand. This is the second straight day, and the third day this month, with a case increase of more than 200.
Two new deaths are also reported in the county. Slightly more than three percent of all cases in Eau Claire County have required hospitalization.
A drastic increase today out of Barron County. Health officials there report 537 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday.
The number of deaths in the county increased by one. Barron County Public Health says the person who died was in his or her 90s with underlying health conditions.
Chippewa County’s death count moves up by three from yesterday for a total of 41. This marks the ninth day this month the state department of health services shows new deaths in Chippewa County.
New COVID-19 cases in the county are up by 69.
Dunn County also adds a new death, for a total of three, along with 80 more positive tests.
La Crosse County’s COVID-19 count increases by 164.
There are 4,389 new, COVID-19 cases reported in Wisconsin today. This is the first day new cases are fewer than five thousand since last Monday.
12 more deaths are also reported in the state. The total number of people in the hospital with the coronavirus rose by 118.
