Coronavirus in Wisconsin state and local update La Crosse and Eau Claire 2-22-21

LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – As of today, nearly 350-thousand Wisconsinites are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. That’s according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services who is reporting 403 new cases of covid-19 in the state today.

This brings the total number of cases in Wisconsin since the pandemic began to nearly 560-thousand. Of those cases, DHS says 97 percent of them are considered recovered with nearly 9-thousand people having an active case of the virus.

The state is also reporting 27 more hospitalizations and zero deaths in today’s update.

Taking a look around our area, Eau Claire County is reporting 4 new cases of the virus, the total in the county now sits at nearly 11-thousand. In Eau Claire County, more than 9-thousand people have been fully vaccinated.

Chippewa County is reporting 9 new cases bringing the total in the county to more than 7-thousand.
Dunn County tacks on 3 and La Crosse tallies 3 new cases as well.
