LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – On Thursday, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in La Crosse County sat at 1,445. In five days, that total has risen by close to 25 percent.
90 more positive tests announced today by the state DHS brings La Crosse County to 1,889. Eau Claire County adds 27 more cases to sit at 1,286.
Chippewa county reports one new case for a total of 421.
Dunn county adds five new cases for 259 totals.
Menominee County in North-East Wisconsin reported its first COVID-19 related fatality today, one of 10 out today from the state DHS. Total positive cases are now more than 91-thousand, and the number of recovered cases sits at 87.1 percent.
Wisconsin has 13 days remaining in its existing state-wide mask mandate. During a press briefing today, Governor Evers says a decision to modify or extend the mandate hasn’t been made, but admits he was glad it wasn’t ending today.
Gov. Evers said, “We believe masking is an important component of keeping the people of Wisconsin safe, and so hopefully we’ll find a find a way to make that make that happen going forward. We have made no decisions in that respect. We’re looking for the right avenue.”
