LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWLAX/WEUX) – Eau Claire County has hit the one thousand mark with positive COVID-19 cases. Today’s data shows an increase of 23 new cases today putting the number at an even one thousand. 79 percent of those cases are recovered. This is the sixth straight day the number of daily cases has been in the twenties.
Today, Public Health Officials in Barron County report a fourth fatality tied to COVID-19. The latest death is said to be a person in their early 60s with no underlying health conditions. As of yesterday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services showed 393 cases of COVID-19 in Barron County.
Today’s state totals from the state DHS show an uptick of 717 new positive tests, pushing the overall number to over 82-thousand.
The state-wide numbers do not reflect the Barron County fatality, as the number of deaths remains unchanged for a second straight day.
Wisconsin’s number of cases recovered is at slightly less than 89 percent.
