Local News

LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Wisconsin saw a little more progress in the effort to vaccinate residents against COVID-19, beating the weekend slump we’ve seen for weeks.

More than 10,000 more people have finished the inoculation process, bringing the state’s total to 27.7 percent.

Eau Claire County sits at 30.6 of its population now fully vaccinated. La Crosse County is also above the 30-percent threshold. Chippewa County is at 28.6 percent and Dunn County has vaccinated 21.8 percent of its community members.

New coronavirus cases were identified today in less than half of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.

The state’s 7-day average by test drops again to 3.4 percent. That’s down from 3.8 percent, where it plateaued for a week until it began falling last Tuesday.

Wisconsin reported 1 more death today, this one, in Adams county. No change in positive cases for Eau Claire, Chippewa, and La Crosse counties.

Dunn County’s COVID-19 case count rose today by 6. Testing is typically less on Sundays.
