Coronavirus in Wisconsin: State and Local update, La Crosse and Eau Claire areas 4-5-21

LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – More than 1.9 million people in Wisconsin, or 33 percent of the state’s population, have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

That’s according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services which is also reporting 20 percent of Wisconsinites are fully vaccinated.

In our area, 24 percent of people in Eau Claire are fully vaccinated, 22 percent in Chippewa County, 17 percent in Dunn, and 24 percent are fully vaccinated in La Crosse County.

The state is also reporting nearly 600 new cases of COVID-19 today. 98 percent of people in the state who have had the virus are considered recovered with almost 73-hundred people currently having an active case of the virus. The state is taking back one death from yesterday and today, 28 more people are hospitalized.

Eau Claire County is reporting 14 new cases of COVID-19, Dunn County tacks on 3, and La Crosse County adds 8 new cases of the virus.
