(WLAX/WEUX)-Thursday, August 6 COVID-19 update across western Wisconsin, La Crosse County is reporting 9 new cases. That brings the county to 877 cases in total. 148 of those cases are considered active at this time. Of those active cases, 5 are currently hospitalized due to the virus. Out of the nine new cases on Thursday, each one is under the age of 40
Eau Claire County with yet another day of double-digit case increase. Ten new positive cases pushes the overall case count to 541. There remains’ four deaths in the county linked to the virus while 461 people have recovered.
Chippewa County is reporting 3 new coronavirus cases today. There total number of cases is at 220. Of those, 203 cases are recovered while 17 remain active. Nobody in Chippewa County has died due to the virus.
Wisconsin as a state is reporting more than 800 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, as the overall case total nears 58 thousand. Eight more deaths are also reported due to COVID-19. That number is growing closer to 1-thousand total coronavirus related deaths in the state. More than 80 percent of all confirmed cases in the state have recovered. The total number of tests given in the state is over one million. That’s nearly one out of every five Wisconsinites that have been tested at some point for the virus.
