LA CROSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Completed vaccinations in Wisconsin increase slightly.
The total percentage of Wisconsinites fully vaccinated remains at 49.8.
Percentages in Eau Claire, Chippewa, and Dunn counties rise slightly.
La Crosse County shows no change from yesterday.
The delta variant is raising questions about whether or not another booster shot will be needed to fight COVID-19.
A third booster shot has not yet been approved for use in the united states. He recommends people not seek out a third dose because of a lack of data proving its effectiveness. According to doctors, the current vaccinations protect against the delta variant.
While breakthrough infections are inevitable, symptoms for those vaccinated are not as severe.
“so, I really caution people from running to a booster, we don’t know what dosage to give you right now, it may not do you any good. Could it potentially cause you harm? Maybe because we’ve never tried it. So far, the vaccines are, you know hundreds of millions of shots have been proved to be safe if given the way they are meant to be given,” said Ashok Rai, Prevea Health President, and CEO.
