LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Pfizer says data suggest the third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine boosts protection against the delta variant.
The company made the announcement during earnings call Wednesday morning.
According to Pfizer, a booster shot in younger people increased antibody levels against that variant that are more than five times higher than what was seen after two doses.
The company also says levels from the third dose were more than 11 times higher in older people than following a second dose.
The CDC and FDA both say fully vaccinated people do not need a booster shot at this time.
Another 34-hundred people in Wisconsin have finished their COVID-19 vaccinations but, it was just enough to move the overall percentage of the population now fully vaccinated at 49.2.
Eau Claire, Chippewa, La Crosse, and Dunn counties have each moved up a tenth of a percentage point in their total completed shots in the arm.
