CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Arguments to move the trial for Lily Peters’ murder to Juvenile Court have been filed. Michael Cohen, the attorney representing the teen who’s accused of killing Peters, says moving the case ensures public safety while holding the teen accountable. He argues that the boy does not understand the consequences of his actions when the crime had taken place.
Cohen also believes the now 15-year-old could become a safe member of society by his 21st birthday. The state argues, however, the teen should be tried as an adult.
