LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – If you’re looking to buy a bicycle this year, you might need a little luck, again. High demand and tight supply mean they’re flying off the shelves.
Last year bicycle shops experienced shortages for their products as more people got outside. This year, the shortage has only gotten worse.
At Rolbiecki’s Riverside Bike and Skate in Eau Claire, some bikes are not expected to arrive until 2023.
Owner Pat Rolbiecki says this through the roof demand for bikes has suppliers in a tight spot.
“The manufacturers are scrambling to try to maintain getting supplies back into the shops. We’re running into transportation issues and logistic issues of just lining up items so that the production can actually happen,” said Rolbiecki.
Rolbiecki says in his years selling bikes, he’s never seen anything like this. Despite the shortage, he says there is still a chance you can find your perfect bike this season.
