Michelle Lauson and her daughter Alyssa plan to take to the field this season, and

15-year-old Grace Woelfel has been hunting since she was nine.

Woelfel said, “I feel this is a very like male-dominated sport, and I wish that more girls would do this. Because I feel like it’s kind of empowering, you know, to be able to say, oh, I can do this, and so can the guys. And it’s just something for everyone to do.”

Alyssa Lauson said, “I am looking forward to it. It’s usually just my dad and my brothers that go, but my mom and I don’t want to be left out anymore.”

Muzzleloader season starts today.
