CHIPPEWA FALLS Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Chippewa Falls FFA students traded in their cars for tractors yesterday. More than a dozen students traveled to Chi-Hi this morning in the most Wisconsin of ways. To support the first ‘Drive Your Tractor to School Day.’
The event is hosted by FFA students to help bring awareness to the ag community in Chippewa Falls. This afternoon, safety presentations were given to sophomore classes on what it means to be sharing the roads with farming equipment.
“We’re hoping to have the sophomore classes come out and we’ll do a little presentation on safety, road safety anything like that because they’re getting their license’ and we want to make sure that they’re safe on the roads. We’re hoping it goes on for a long time,” said event organizer Briar Schoelzel.
The students say they hope this is the first of many ‘drive your tractor to school events. Several tractors were adorned with purple ribbons in memory of 10-year-old Lily Peters.
