Durand Girls Basketball Helps Out Family

Local News

Durand high school’s girls varsity basketball team is giving back to a local family in a big way. A Durand family’s 9 month old son is struggling with stage five kidney reflux. He was born with only one functioning kidney, which has weakened his immune system.

The girls basketball team wanted to help out, so they started selling t-shirts and gift baskets to help raise money for the family. Today, the team presented them with a check for more than 4,300 dollars.

Ambree Schlosser: “It feels great. We always get so much support from our community. This was a great way to give back. I think that we all feel really good about the money that we raised for this family.”

The team says this is the first year in a long time, since the girls basketball team has given back to the community.
