EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Eau Claire City Council President is responding to a Wisconsin Congressman’s concerns over refugees being brought to the Chippewa Valley. World Relief Wisconsin will be helping roughly 75 refugees from multiple countries resettle in the Eau Claire area. In a letter sent to the Eau Claire City Council President last week, Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany said city officials need to give residents a “robust opportunity” to submit a public comment on any resettlement plans.
City Council President Emily Berge responded in a letter this week, saying in part, quote: “Eau Claire embraces the chance to welcome new immigrants to our community and looks to the federal government to ensure those new neighbors come here through a process that is safe, supportive, and secure for all.”
