EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – People enjoyed Eau Claire County’s parks for free this weekend.
It was the county’s free weekend, as it waived parking fees at its seven parks and boat landings.
The county also waived fees at Tower Ridge Recreational Area.
One beach goer at lake Altoona County Park says she didn’t realize parking was free today but was pleasantly surprised when she found out she wouldn’t have to pay for it.
Judah Klein, of Elk Mound said, “It’s wonderful. I feel like it gives better opportunity to bring the community without having that kind of damper on it, you know, having to pay for parking because like if some places like if I know I have to pay for parking, I’m less likely to go there so it’s exciting to be a little bit more carefree this weekend.”
Parking fees generally cost five dollars per day.
Season passes are available.
