EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Former Eau Claire County Sheriff, Ron Cramer, has been posthumously named a First Responder of the Year. Representative Warren Petryk says the state assembly honored 99 first responders from across the state in a ceremony yesterday.

Each session, the assembly takes a day to recognize and celebrate those who keep us safe. Sheriff Cramer died unexpectedly in September of 2022. Petryk says Sheriff Cramer exemplified what it means to be a hero through his actions of selflessness and integrity during his more than 47 years of service.

The award recognizes Cramer’s accomplishments and contributions to the community.
