Eau Claire home invasion leads to stabbing, woman airlifted

(WLAX/WEUX) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice division of criminal investigation is investigating an officer-involved death in Eau Claire.

Before 3 pm, Eau Claire police responded to a 911 call for someone breaking into a home near the 400 block of Selma street on the city’s northwest side.

According to officers, the intruder, a 30-year-old male, stabbed a woman inside the home. Officers entered the home, encountered the man, and an officer shot him.

EMS attempted lifesaving efforts, but the 30-year-old man died at the scene. The woman suffered serious stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, and then airlifted to another hospital. DCI is leading this investigation being assisted by the Wisconsin state patrol
