Eau Claire Memorial Day Parade honors those who fought and died for America

Local News

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Those from Eau Claire who fought and died for America, dating back to the civil war, were honored Monday morning.

There was a parade through downtown, followed by the annual program at Owen Park.

Organizers say the event is a fitting salute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Ron Martin, President of Wisconsin Education Association Council said, “We had almost 30 different groups participate. We normally have about 45 so 15 less so we did really well during a year when we have covid. But those 30 organizations are organizations that have participated for a lot of years”

Kaye Olson said, “And how awesome to see all the people come out and watch the parade and pay honor to everyone that have fallen and those veterans that are still here. It gives a person a warm heart.”

Organizers believe about 2-thousand people turned out for today’s event.
