EAU CLAIRE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The discovery of a stolen car led to a chase through Eau Claire, an injury to an officer, a damaged squad car, and an arrest. Eau Claire police arrested 49-year John T. Martin last night. It all started when police were checking the Regency hotel parking lot on South Hastings Way and found a vehicle that was reported stolen from Minnesota.

Martin was tased and pepper-sprayed, with little effect, and got back in the car and took off. Martin was pursued south of Eau Claire on i-94. Stop sticks were used and his car slowed down.

Police say martin began driving into oncoming traffic and eventually rammed his vehicle into an Eau Claire police squad car. He was then taken into custody. An officer was injured when martin slammed the hotel door on his arm.
