EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Apple Pregnancy Care Center in Eau Claire has been operating for 40 years. For the last 20, they’ve been paying people to learn.
It’s part of their “Earn While You Learn” program. Those who take part learn many useful topics surrounding pregnancy, life skills, and parenting.
They then earn points on what they learn and trade them in for everything from diapers and car seats, to strollers and many other childcare necessities.
Melinda Gardner, Executive Director said, “We feel very strongly that we need to help women in unplanned pregnancies and offer the kind of care and support they need. How do we help you when maybe you’re scared, struggle or feel alone.”
Naraeha Solis of Eau Claire said, “We haven’t had to but diapers in a long time so it’s just been very helpful because we have been saving for our future.”
The Apple Center has seen a major decrease in patients since the COVID-19 pandemic began but, they hope anyone who may be struggling will still give them a call.
