EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A shooting on Eau Claire’s south side prompted two schools to hold students inside temporarily.

According to the Eau Claire Police Department early Thursday afternoon, officers responded to a drive-by-style shooting in the 2400 block of Sessions Street.

The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. There were no injuries reported.

Due to the shooting, south middle school and Meadowview Elementary School held students inside. Authorities are asking if you have any information regarding the shooting to contact the police.

Within a few minutes of officers arriving on scene, the two schools were notified and resumed their day as normal.

Public Information Officer Riley McLennan said, “We do ask if anyone has any video footage of any sort of altercation or had seen something to call the Eau Claire Police Department.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
