EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The city of Eau Claire is soon to receive thirteen and a half million dollars in COVID-19 relief money.
The money is a part of President Biden’s one point nine trillion-dollar COVID-19 recovery act. The plan for the money must fall under certain criteria such as helping the community respond to the negative economic impacts related to COVID-19.
The process of deciding where to allocate the money has just recently began.
Jay Winzenz, finance director said, “That’s a lot of money. I mean 13 and a half million dollars is a lot of money this is a once in a generation type opportunity for the community to be very thoughtful on how we use those dollars and to really help the community recover, not only recover from the negative impacts of COVID-19 but make the community more resilient”
Eau Claire City Council President Terry Weld says the city may start to put a plan into action by this fall or early winter.
