EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WLAX/WEUX) – With Halloween around the corner, some pediatric dentists have advice for parents on how to deal with treats in a healthy way.

Doctor Reza Ardalan says parents shouldn’t feel guilty after a day’s worth of their kids eating candy… as long as it’s not a frequent habit. Doctor Ardalan recommends parents add sugar-free gum in their child’s trick-or-treat bags. He says chewing produces saliva – which helps clean teeth, rebuild enamel, and reduce cravings for more sugary snacks.

He also recommends setting quality eating and oral health habits for everyday life. So, kids can retain good gut health and appreciate candy in moderation too.
