Thanks to a grant for new equipment and a highly trained area k-9 officer, a wanted man is in custody.
The incident started early this morning when Chippewa Falls police pulled over a vehicle at the Indian Head Motel around one o’clock. Police say Gary La Rose ran into the thick woods nearby. After searching for a couple of hour’s officers took him into custody.
Lieutenant Matt Kelm says it’s all thanks to a great collaboration and new equipment from a recent grant.
“It gave us the advantage over him, as we could see him, but he couldn’t see us. with the dog, luckily, Sergeant Sokup from Lake Hallie was working with his k-9, he came right over and started searching”
The cameras were gifted from the B.A. Mason Trust and Northwestern Bank.
