EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – With those temperatures heating up outside, people are looking for ways to cool down. The Fairfax Pool is back open after being closed last summer.
First News at Nine’s Leeann Stapleton talked with the recreation manager at the pool and people looking to start their summer off with a splash.
The official start to summer is just around the corner and temperatures have been on the rise.
People looking to cool down this year have the option of going to the Fairfax Pool. Recreation manager Dawn Comte is looking forward to being open.
“We are so happy, plus it’s 90 degrees that’s great for us and great for the community,” said Comte.
The pool was closed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and repairs. This year, there are some new safety measures in place.
“We are still expecting 6 foot distancing, people can come in their family pods and so we’re welcoming that,” Comte added.
Knelly Dettinger says her family usually has a membership and they are looking forward to spending hot days getting wet.
“One of the best parts about living in Eau Claire is the Fairfax Pool,” said Dettinger. “A summer without fairfax pool was really hard for me and my kiddos so we were super, super excited to see it open.”
There are no adjustments to capacity limits, however, Comte says they are ramping up cleaning to help curb any COVID-19 exposures.
“We’re cleaning high touch surfaces, we are taking extra safety breaks and things like that,” Comte said.
Masks are not required for those who are vaccinated.
“The exception is if you’re not vaccinated whoever you, you should wear a mask,” said Comte.
All facilities will also be available for use.
“The locker room, changing rooms, showers, restrooms are all open,” Comte added.
