Local News

The La Crosse County Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC) is offering aid to young families visit and purchase healthy food options from local participating farmer’s markets.

Starting this month, WIC is providing a $35 farmers market check to pregnant women, postpartum moms, and families with children under five through the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program. The checks can be used at Farmer’s Markets with participating farmers.

It increases access for children and young families to fresh fruits and vegetables. The program also allows young parents to teach their children the growing process of those fruits and vegetables, and the health benefits associated with eating fresh whole food.
