ELK MOUND, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) – A 70-year-old woman is dead after a fatal crash in Elk Mound. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office says crews were called to the intersection of Highway 29 and 970th Street around 8:30 last night. At the scene, they found the woman unresponsive in a pickup truck in a ditch.

Deputies believe she was driving westbound on 29 when she tried to make a turn and failed to yield for a semi hauling livestock. The semi-driver was not hurt and the trailer of pigs remained intact. The pickup driver died at the scene. Her name has not been released.
