Feed My People Food Bank launches ‘Operation Picnic’ ‘Pack-a-Thon’

Local News

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Volunteers were filling bags of macaroni and rice at Feed My People Food Bank Thursday for its operation picnic pack-a-thon.

They filled thousands of one-pound bags that’ll be distributed during the food bank’s august pop-up pantries.

Feed My People says this is the first time the organization has had groups of volunteers back since the pandemic.

Susie Haugley, of Feed My People Food Bank, said, “We’re just excited to have so many people together working hard. We’ve had volunteers throughout this time, but it’s just been a small core group so there’s a lot of excitement and energy with all the groups here.”

Most volunteers today came from businesses that sponsor operation picnic.

Haugley says while the food bank is now allowing more volunteers back in the building, it’s still limited to groups of 18.
