EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – An Eau Claire bar is still cleaning up following a fire Monday morning. Firefighters responded to the Alibi Lounge on South Esmond Road around 4:30.
The fire caused about $200,000 worth of damage. Firefighters responded following what callers described as an explosion.
Though no civilians were hurt in the fire, one firefighter did go to the hospital with a medical emergency.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Eau Claire Fire Deputy Chief Allyn Bertrang says we should know more following the fire inspector’s investigation.
“We have a duty to determine the cause and the origin of the fire and so our investigator is working on that and working with our personnel and we’ll determine that to the best of our ability,” said Bertrang.
Bertrang would not comment beyond that on the investigation. He did not give a timeline for when it’d be completed.
He says crews were on scene though for several hours this morning.
