EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A former area high school teacher charged with repeated sexual assault of a child is free on a 10-thousand-dollar signature bond.

72-year-old Roger Sahs appeared for his initial appearance in Eau Claire County Court today.

Last month, the former teacher at Eau Claire Memorial and McDonell Central High Schools was arrested, on accusations from a victim, claiming Sahs sexually assaulted her multiple times, beginning when she was 7 years old.

Sahs denied the allegations to detectives, adding that he was ‘taken aback’ by the charge.

Sahs is due back in court for a hearing on May 24.
