Frontline nurses feeling relieved as COVID-19 vaccinations continue

Local News

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – COVID-19 remains a constant presence throughout western Wisconsin. Each day, health care workers are treating patients with the virus.

Dusti Mielke is a nurse at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She says as more people get vaccinated, there’s a huge difference in the workload and overall mental health.

Mielke says a huge weight is being lifted off health care workers’ shoulders.

“Before you’d come to work then go home go home and come to work. Now that we’re seeing a decrease, I think people can take a deep breath and relax a little bit which is good,” said Mielke.

Mielke hopes more people within the state will get vaccinated so that their relief is not short-lived.
