Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – If you’ve had to get gas lately, you’ve likely felt the big hit to your wallet. Gas prices are at an all-time high, and for some, it’s changing how they budget.

Two months ago, Triple-A said $4 dollars was the magic number where people start changing their habits. Many at the pump think gas prices are too high.

One Wisconsin man says he and his son were planning a trip to Utah for Memorial Day weekend. But gas prices put their plans on hold.

He says the cost of gas coupled with lodging expenses didn’t make the trip worth it to them. Others say they aren’t letting the price dictate their plans.

“I still got to live and work so…I mean, it is what it is. We just kind of grunt and go on with our lives.”

Travel Wisconsin says more people are traveling, but they’re staying closer to home.

However, they say road trips are more popular than in years past.

Triple-A is expecting one of the busiest travel weekends for Memorial Day this year. The increase in demand is likely to make gas even more expensive.
