MADISON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Governor Tony Evers announced that he is sending millions of dollars in ‘Emergency Funding’ towards the state’s Child Care Counts program. In a video on Twitter this (10/16/23) morning, Evers said $170 million is being directed to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. The move comes after Republicans’ repeated rejections of the Governor’s proposal to allocate $340 million in the State Budget or in separate legislation to continue the program.
This money will keep the childcare counts program running through June of 2025. Money for the program was previously set to expire in January 2024.
