WHEATON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Human remains that were found in the town of Wheaton in Chippewa County last year have been identified.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, the remains are Rosaly Rodriguez of Reedsburg.

She would have been 26 this year.

Rodriguez was a Peruvian native working in the Wisconsin Dells area when she disappeared in July 2020.

Her remains were recovered in October last year.

She was found in a suitcase on an abandoned farm along County Highway T between 20th and 30th avenues.

Both the Reedsburg Police Department and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s office are actively investigating Rodriguez’s death, which is ruled a homicide.

Chippewa county sheriff James Kowalczyk says there is a person of interest in the case and more information will be released soon.
