WILSON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – All lanes on I-94 in St. Croix County opened (Tuesday) morning after a fatal 7-vehicle crash (Monday) Night. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, 2 people were killed and several others treated at the scene. The crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate near Wilson.

The State Patrol says traffic was slowed due to congestion caused by a construction zone lane closure and a semi traveling at highway speed failed to see the slowed traffic. The semi hit a pickup truck and another semi which caused a chain reaction crash. Multiple vehicles burst into flames after the impact. The driver of the “striking” semi and the pickup truck driver were killed.

The State Patrol identifies the semi-driver as 76-year-old Zdzislaw Obodzinski of Palatine, Illinois. The pickup truck driver is 45-year-old James Shearer of Hammond.
