International Overdose Awareness Day: La Crosse overdose deaths

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says International Overdose Awareness Day serves as a reminder that overdose death is preventable. It also aims to reduce stigmas tied to drug-related deaths.

According to the group “Alliance to Heal” La Crosse County has 27 drug overdose deaths so far this year, more than double the total of drug-related deaths last year and any previous year.

Alliance to Heal is using this overdose awareness day to remind community members it has 17 medication drop boxes set up throughout La Crosse county.
