Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The IRS has sent out 12 million delayed tax refunds to 12 million Americans. The agency also gave out benefits to correct for an allowed unemployment tax break.

The payments came because of the American Rescue Plan act, which waived federal taxes on up to 10-thousand 200 dollars in 2020 unemployment benefits.

The bill didn’t get signed into law until March 2021, after many had already filed their tax returns. The average refund check is about 12 hundred and 32 dollars.
