MELROSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX0 – A business in Jackson County is a total loss after a fire on Saturday.
Fire crews responded to the Black Pearl Lounge & North Bend Canoe Rental in north bend around 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Melrose Fire District Chief Tim Kunes says it appears the fire started in a small pit near the building.
Chief Kunes says the wind speeds allowed the fire to spread quickly, making it difficult to put out. Eventually spreading the fire onto the grass.
The fire department used more than 60,000 gallons of water fighting the fire, and cleared the scene at 7 p.m.
