Procession held for late Arcadia-Glencoe fire chief

ARCADIA, Wisc. (WLAX) — A Western Wisconsin community said its final goodbyes to its fire chief Saturday.

People lined the streets of Arcadia to watch the law enforcement procession held in honor of Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Chief Jeff Halvorsen who died last week. Police and fire departments from across the region joined the ceremony.

Throughout his career, Halvorsen served as a police office, EMT and firefighter before becoming the fire chief.

During Saturday’s ceremony, he was saluted for his lifetime of service durking a final call for his badge number dispatched over the police radio.

“Chief Halvorsen proudly served the citizens of Arcadia, Trempealeau County and the State of Wisconsin with professionalism and dedication,” the dispatcher said. “His lifetime of service will never be forgotten. God bless the memory of Chief Halvorsen. We will take the watch from here.”

The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release Halvorsen’s cause of death.
