The importance of giving your kids flue shots

LA CROSSE/EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Telling the difference between flu symptoms and COVID-19 can be difficult. With children getting sick often from school, it is easy to be concerned that they have COVID-19.

Dr. Larry Gordon with Aspirus says the main symptom of COVID-19 is often a fever, but that is also one of the main symptoms of the flu.

He says it is important to keep your child at home until you know it if it is COVID-19 or not and stresses the importance of getting your child a flu shot.

Gordan said, “Flu immunization is key because it’s going to help us narrow down what are you possible having and what aren’t you having. Anything we can do to stem the spread, absolutely.”

The concern also lies in dealing with typical flu season on top of a pandemic. That’s why Gordon says flu shots for children are vital to helping doctors, parents, and each member of the schools safe.
