CHIPPEWA VALLEY, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A much-awaited expansion in the Chippewa Valley is now in the construction phase

The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire announced today that market and Johnson is the project’s contractor, and construction is about to begin.

The library downtown is currently closed while staff sets up a temporary location at 2725 Mall Drive.  That’s expected to open with in-person services in mid-May.

The expansion project is a public-private funding effort with the project reaching nearly 97 percent of its total goal of 18.5 million dollars.

The new space is expected to be finished in the fall of 2022.
