The La Crosse Bandshell project received a big boost on Wednesday thanks to a local band.
The La Crosse Concert Band made a donation of $50,000 to the project. The LCCB board of directors voted unanimously at its September 2018 meeting to approve the investment.
The money for the investment comes from earnings from the band’s endowment fund.
The LCCB is a regular user of the bandshell since its dedication in 1930, the LCCB is uniquely connected to its history and the community it surrounds.
“Our history in Riverside Park made this decision an easy one. This investment will allow us to improve significantly the musical experience we provide for our audiences and our players while also giving back to the beautiful park that has been our summer home for so many decades,” said band board president Stephen Mann in a statement.
