La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of bear sighting near West Salem

Local News

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a bear sighting near a local campground.

The sheriff’s office says they have received multiple reports of a bear spotted near highway 16 and the Neshonoc Campground in West Salem.

They are working with the DNR to move the bear along but are also asking for the public’s help. The sheriff’s office says to remove food sources from around your house or campsite for the next two weeks and to not approach the bear.

However, they say there is no need to call law enforcement unless someone is in danger.
