LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEAU) — La Crosse residents must remove ice and snow from sidewalks or expect a bill, City officials said.

Per a municipal ordinance, residents must clear sidewalks of snow and ice debris within 24 hours after snowfall ends. If sidewalks are not cleared, the City will shovel the area; however, the homeowner will be billed for the services.

The City does provide a free sand/salt mix that can be picked up at Fire Stations 2 and 4, Erickson Field parking lot or Isle la Plume.
