LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) –
A grant for the School District of La Crosse allowed students of all abilities to participate in a unique art project.
All 14 schools in the district took part in Zot Artz events this week.
The art materials provided children with disabilities more opportunities to create art by removing barriers.
Zot Artz supplied the schools with art tools that any student could use to create their own personal piece of art.
“Anyone can do this,” said Lindsey Shay, School District of La Crosse physical therapist. “If you can’t pogo-paint then you can roll. If you can’t roll, you can push the big roller. There’s things that hook onto the fronts of wheelchairs so kids can paint and actually create their own stuff versus constantly relying on adults to help them do something.”
Each student contributed to a floor mural which will be displayed in their school and also created a poster-sized work of art to take home.
