LAKE HALLIE Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The spring election is coming up on April 4th, and early voting has already started in Wisconsin. Voters living within the village of Lake Hallie will see two referendum questions on the ballot.
The village of Lake Hallie held an informational meeting about the referendums last night. The first question looks to exceed the Village’s levy limit by 110 thousand dollars.
Those funds would cover police department expenses like one more full-time officer. Chief Ed Orgon says with the need for officers everywhere, the department can no longer rely on its part-time program.
“Since 2010, the Village has trained, probably, a good 20 officers that have left for full-time jobs. It’s a competitive environment, so that’s why a 12th officer is going to be better equipped for the Village than to keep turning over part-time officers.”
Voters will also see a measure asking to exceed the levy limit by 700- thousand dollars. That money would fund public safety debt service and road improvements.
